Talk comments

Great tutorial covering a fun area of coding, not often explored. Really good code examples and something new to learn with every slide.

Great tutorial. A bit on the simple side. I think it would be more correct to mark it with "Talk level: Beginner" and not "Intermediate". But I guess it's hard to make an advanced talk about a simple subject.

Lorna is a great speaker and it is allways fun to listen to api talks...

I've wanted to go to a MWOP tutorial for some time now and finally got to go!
Matthew is an all round nice guy and an excellent speaker who takes wifi failures and live coding in his stride.
The technical expertise is unrivaled and it is no wonder his tutorials are always sold out.

That said, one improvement I would have made, from experience giving workshops, is to move away from having people typing in code and to get people to solve actual small problems using something like unit tests.
For instance there was a small flaw in the example that when a directory was not defined or writable to the server the contact form would give a cryptic fatal error, chasing this bug down was fun and taught me a lot about the ServiceManager and DI in ZF2.

Regardless, enjoyed the talk a lot. A++ would go again.

I think that my initial research on ZF2 helped me to understand the tutorial better then a newbee. For a newbee, the tutorial might have been to fast paced...

But still well done! And do keep peeping! :)

A very complete workshop in both the theoretical and the practical way. Everybody was motivated to participate from the start which was very successful. I liked very much that it was a small but diverse group of people.

Oh... and I got to play with lego!

All credits go to sebastian for encouraging a group of 12+ people that haven't met before to actively engage in a discussion on the what, how and when of Scrum.

The unique approach of the tutorial created a feeling as if we were at an AA meeting but that's fine since it encouraged everybody to actively participate and think along. At the end of the day I went home with real practical advice and useful tips, exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent workshop!

Very nice and highly interactive workshop. Instead of just the speaker talking and the participants working behind their laptops, Sebastian pulls everyone in some kind of Agile Anonymous meeting and let's us work out exactly what we want to learn in this all-day session. This includes using tons of post-its and even Lego to explain and practice the use of Scrum and other Agile development methods.
I highly enjoyed the session and will definitely use the experience in my work environment.

Lots of pitfalls and best practices of estimation in general with hypothetical examples and a smooth story. Good structure, easy to follow - only thing I kinda expected was more hands-on work in this workshop. But then again, to be honest, I have no idea how you would tie that in to the subject at hand. Maybe some role-playing examples or something like that? Ties in nicely with your D&D cone reference :)

Interesting overview of what's what in webservice-land. As mentioned before, it would be nice to have a set of mandatory installs & downloads beforehand to reduce startup time so we could've gotten more in-depth on REST and when to use it (or RCP).

Really enjoyable presentation method. though, despite a half-sleeping and double-shy audience.

Great tutorial. Useful information about the general topic and enough in-depth information. Also liked the added part at the end with ad-hoc interaction. Tip: put on the final code of the main tutorial on the memory stick, this saves people time from typing. Thanks!
